There are a number of reasons that could lead to Pc keeps restarting which include corrupted drivers, faulty hardware, and malware infection and more. Some Pc users also reported that the problem began after installing Windows 10 updates. So below are methods which if followed properly can help fix this problem.

Method 1: Disable Automatic Restart

When you want to fix endless reboot loop after Windows 10 update, the first thing you should do is disable the automatic restart feature. This will allow you to temporarily stop the computer from restarting. In this way, you can efficiently try the other methods that will permanently resolve the problem. Here are the steps:
  1. Turn on your computer.
  2. Before the Windows logo shows up, press and hold the F8 key. This should bring up the boot menu.
  3. Select Safe Mode.
  4. Boot your computer through Safe Mode, then press Windows Key+R.
  5. In the run dialog, type “sysdm.cpl” (no quotes), then click OK.
  6. Go to the Advanced tab.
  7. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click the Settings button.
  8. You will find the Automatically Restart option under System Failure. Deselect it if it has been checked. Note that the box beside “Write an event to the system log” has to be selected. This feature records problems occurring in your system.
  9. Save the changes by clicking OK.

As we’ve mentioned earlier, this can only temporarily fix reboot loop on Windows 10. Therefore, we recommend you proceed to the below methods.

Method 2: Updating your drivers

When your drivers are out of date, it is possible for your computer to have a reboot loop. This is because your devices are not able to properly communicate with your system. Therefore, it is important to check if your drivers are up to date. You can either do this manually or use a one-click tool like Bit Driver Updater.

If you choose to manually update your drivers, you have to dedicate a significant amount of time. You’d have to go to the manufacturer’s website and search the driver installers to get the right versions for your computer, this can be time-consuming. This is why we encourage you to use Bit Driver Updater. This tool will automatically detect your system and search for the compatible drivers. With one click of a button, you can update your drivers to their latest manufacturer-recommended versions.

Method 3: Checking Hardware Issues

In some cases, a faulty hardware can make your computer keep on restarting. We’ve listed some of the possible hardware issues you must check:

RAM

The problem may come from your Random Access Memory (RAM). Check the RAM and the condition of the slot. Remove the RAM from the slot and carefully clean them both. Insert back the RAM, then check if this fixes the problem.

CPU

Overheating may also get your computer stuck in a reboot loop. Therefore, you have to check if your CPU is working properly. It would be best to remove the dust from your CPU, ensuring that the fan and its surrounding areas are clean. After this, turn on your computer and check of the issue has been resolved.

External Devices

To troubleshoot this you have to unplug all your external devices. After that, turn on your computer and check if it is not in a reboot loop anymore. If your PC is now properly functioning, then there must be a problem with one of your external devices. You can identify exactly which it is by plugging them back one at a time. Make sure you restart your computer after every device to determine which causes the issue.

Method 4: Scanning for Viruses or Malware

If your PC keeps on restarting it is possible that it has been infected by a virus or malware. You can run a complete virus scan by using Windows Defender. On the other hand, if you want a more comprehensive virus/malware check, you can use security software like Microsoft Defender, Norton 360, Malwarebytes, McAfee Total Protection etc. It will check your system and Registry and look for malicious items. After letting the tool get rid of viruses and malware, you can restart your computer to see if the problem has been solved. Also ensure you get any of these from the original website or from a trusted vendor this is because pirated copies are even more accessible than the original copies.
