Video subtitles are useful for displaying dialogue and sounds as on-screen text for people with difficulty in hearing or also language translation.
Some videos comes with subtitle embedded while for some others you have to download the subtitle file and add manually. Whatever be the case, HandBrake Transcoder helps you embed subtitles permanently to videos which displays on any devices you're viewing from.
SRT stands for SubRip Subtitle file, which is a caption file made up of time coding and plain text. Video software effectively extracts the sequencing, time code and text information to display subtitles on a video.
I have taken out time to explain the steps to get this done.
Before we begin, head over to Google and type the name of the movie you want the subtitle and add SRT at the end. Example lets say i want a subtitle file for the 2022 movie Scream, I'll go ahead and google "Scream 2022 SRT"
Select from the list of websites available and go ahead to download the most suitable file. They are mostly in zip files so be sure you extract it after downloading.
Now let's begin the encoding proper.
NB: The images can be clearer if you click on them and zoom.
Step 1:
Head over to HandBrake Transcoder official website to download the software. Click on the download button to download the most suitable version for your Operating System.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install the software to your PC, launch it when installation is completed.
When the software is Launched, you'll something related to the image below. Click on file to load the video you want to work on or simply drag and drop it on the App window.
Step 3:
Once the video is loaded navigate to "Subtitle" and select "Import Subtitle"
Step 4:
In the pop-up window, select the SRT file you extracted earlier just like the image below. Ensure you have selected the correct subtitle file before clicking "open"
Step 5:
In this step, click "Browse" to select the output location of the finished job, after that, click on the play icon at the top labelled 'Start Encode" and wait for it to finish. This will take a lot of time depending on the length of the video.
After the encoding, the video can be copied or uploaded to any platform and watched with subtitle.
